Scholarships

The Sister Lucie Nordmann Scholarship Award is available to one new or returning student attending Villa Duchesne  in grades JK3 – Grade 12. An award will be granted to the recipient or recipients. Eligible recipients must be strong academically, as demonstrated by grade reports (if age appropriate), standardized test scores, and positive teacher comments, the student and his/her family must demonstrate a desire for and an openness to learning and furthering personal growth, and show a demonstrated and active participation in their faith. While the recipient and his/her family are not required to be Catholic, they must show evidence of strong religious beliefs. The award will be reviewed annually providing the student maintains his/her eligibility.

The Child of the Sacred Heart Scholarship is available annually to at least one new or returning student attending Villa Duchesne in Grades K-3 and is based on financial need. Recipients receive aid each year to follow the student through the third grade based on continued eligibility. This scholarship is funded by an anonymous donor.

The Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat Tribute and Memorial Scholarship is available annually to two new or returning students attending grades K-6 at Villa Duchesne, one based on Sacred Heart legacy and financial need, and the other based solely on financial need.

This is an academic scholarship for students entering Villa Duchesne in the seventh, eighth, or ninth grade. The scholarship pays tribute to Janet Erskine Stuart, RSCJ, an internationally-recognized educator known for her great compassion, wisdom, and intellect. The Mother Janet Erskine Stuart Academic Scholarship will be awarded each school year to students meeting the following criteria:

1. Scoring in the 90th percentile or above on the SSAT, ERB, or ITBS (Independent School Norms)
2. Maintaining a core academic average in prior two grades of A- or above

The amount of the scholarship will be determined by the student's SSAT score. Students who qualify for the Mother Janet Erskine Stuart Academic Scholarship are notified when they receive their acceptance letters in the spring with the scholarship automatically renewed each school year through graduation if the student remains in good academic standing.

The Hawes Family Scholarship is available to one new student entering the seventh grade and is renewable for the eighth grade. Eligible recipients meet the school's academic admission criteria, demonstrate financial need, and, through their application, demonstrate a significant understanding of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. Recipients receive aid each year based on market performance.

The Reis Family Scholarship is awarded to Catholic students entering the seventh grade. Qualifying candidates will submit a Pro-life essay and demonstrate a commitment to Catholic education as well as academic excellence. Recipients will receive $3000 as long as the academic and school standards are met. This scholarship is funded by the Carl J. Reis Family.

The Sister Anne Webster Scholarship Award is available to students entering the ninth grade (either from Villa Duchesne eighth grade or new to the School) who show a strong desire and commitment to their Sacred Heart education. Eligible recipients must be strong academically, as demonstrated by GPA and standardized test scores and have positive teacher comments, demonstrate a desire for and an openness to learning and furthering personal growth, and show a demonstrated and active participation in their faith. While the recipient and her family are not required to be Catholic, they must show evidence of strong religious beliefs by submitting a reflective essay on the five Goals and Criteria of a Sacred Heart education, written by the prospective student. The award is renewable each academic year for a maximum of four years providing the student maintains her eligibility. Demonstration of financial need is preferred.

The McNally Ghio Alumnae Scholarship is available annually to a student entering the ninth grade who demonstrates financial need and whose mother, grandmother, or great-grandmother is an alumna of either Villa Duchesne or City House. Recipients receive $5,000 towards tuition each year to follow the student through graduation as needed. This scholarship is funded by the Villa Duchesne-City House Alumnae Association.

The Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne Scholarship is available to two students entering the ninth grade from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in St. Charles. Each recipient receives aid each year to follow the student through graduation based on continued eligibility. This scholarship is based on academic excellence and is funded by Villa Duchesne.

Inspired by the 50^th Reunion of Mary’s Class of 1966, her family established the Mary Fusz Doody CH ’66 Scholarship fund to support academic excellence and the education of the whole child in the tradition of Sacred Heart. In loving memory of Mary ~ athletic, brilliant, caring.

The Mary Fusz Doody CH ’66 Scholarship is available to a student entering the ninth grade (either from Villa Duchesne eighth grade or a student new to Villa Duchesne) who demonstrates a strong desire to learn and a commitment to her education.

One scholarship will be awarded each year and is renewable each academic year for a maximum of four years provided that the student maintains her eligibility, including a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or greater, and that she respects herself, her peers, and our school through her conduct. Eligible recipients must be strong academically, as demonstrated by a GPA of 3.5 or greater in grades 7-8, as well as standardized test scores in the 85 percentile or above.

The Science Scholarship is available to one new student entering Villa Duchesne grades 9-12. Eligible recipients meet the school's academic admission criteria, demonstrate financial need, and express a sincere interest and previous achievement in science through the submission of a written essay. Recipients receive an award towards tuition each year, based on market performance, to follow the student through graduation as needed. This scholarship is funded by an anonymous donor.

The "Alive in Christ!" Scholarship Program is part of Archbishop Robert J. Carlson's strategic plan for Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. In an effort to promote active recruitment and increased enrollment of children in Catholic elementary schools, the “Alive in Christ!” Scholarship Program seeks to provide financial assistance to those families (both Catholic and Non-Catholic) who wish to offer their children an education at a Catholic elementary school in the archdiocese. Scholarship awards are based upon financial need of the applicant and will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
